The International Institute of Business has responded to the global call for business schools and academic associations to advance corporate social responsibility worldwide. The business school has committed to adhere to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), which were unveiled by a group of scholars and leading academic organization at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in July of 2007.

The Principles for Responsible Management Education provide a framework for academic institutions to advance the broader cause of corporate social responsibility and incorporate universal values into curricula and research.

 

The International Institute of Business – the only accredited study centre of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (United Kingdom) in Ukraine – professional organization, which plays the leading role in professionals’ preparation for PR-industry.

This year all works of CIPR Advanced Certificate / Diploma Students at the International Institute of Business achieved high grades from CIPR Exam Board members.

CIPR Chief Examiner mentioned the overall high level of works, which were submitted by Ukrainian CIPR Advanced Certificate Students. Such results are not typical for groups with big cohorts.

 

On April 16-18, 2008 Alexander Mertens, the President of the International Institute of Business, took part in the second module of the first programme for business school deans - International Deans’ Programme (IDP). The programme is organized by the Association of Business Schools (ABS) with the assistance of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

IDP consists of three modules, each of them is held in different countries. The first one was held at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, in the frameworks of the second module participants visited five universities in Boston, and final module will be held in Lisboan in July.

 

During April 9 - 13 the IMBA second year students will have an opportunity to enrich their knowledge in the area of communications. JUDY A. ROY will deliver course "Corporate Communications".

JUDY A. ROY, Senior Teaching Associate, joined the Faculty of Business Administration of University of New Brunswick in 1993 and is a member of the Organization Studies area. She teaches Verbal and Written Communications in the BBA program and Organizational Communications in the MBA program. Other areas of teaching: Business Communications, Marketing Communications, Advertising, Marketing Principles, Marketing Research, Public Relations.

 

On April the 8th, 2008 at the conference room of the International Institute of Business in the frameworks of the PR-Ukraine. Growth in PR Project panel discussion, devoted to the problems of the Ukrainian education in PR, was held. Key points of the discussions were as follows: necessity of the specialized education for PR-specialist, quality of existing educational programs, their advantages and disadvantages.

Round-table meeting was opened by Martin Nunn – Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), foundation-member of the Ukrainian Association of Public Relations (UAPR), member of the President’s Foreign Investments Advisory Board and Chief Executive of the Whites Communication International Public Relations.



 

On April 5 the traditional alumni reunion of the IIB has taken place in comfortable conference-hall of the International Institute of Business. It is pleasant to notice that graduates of various generations of all the academic syllabuses of the IIB since 1998 were among members of the reunion.

Alexander Mertens, the President of the IIB had opened the reunion, told about developments and achievements of the IIB for the last year, and unveiled some plans for future. The topic of fifteen-year anniversary of the International Institute of Business was also paid attention. In the frame of 15-year anniversary of the IIB celebration Alyona Shevchuk, the Head of Marketing department announced competition among students and graduates of the IIB for best essay "My history of success".

Alexander Mertens, the President of the International Institute of Business will act as a moderator of the round table "Investing under conditions of crisis on financial markets" which will take place on April 3, 2008 in the Hayatt Regency Kyiv hotel.

The report of leading European expert in the developing markets economics area, professor of the Paris School of Economics Jaques Sapir will be introduced during the round table program. J. Sapir believes in the fact and supports it with practical investigations that Eastern Europe becomes the new pole of economic growth, and that several countries including Ukraine have a chance to step out of the world’s financial crisis without losses.

On March 5 – 7 2008 Ekaterina Novotarskaya, programs manager of the International Institute of Business, took part in the Program Management Seminar.

Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN) acted as the seminar’s organizer. The seminar took its place in the CEEMAN headquarters, in the city of Bled, Slovenia.

 

The International Institute of Business will act as an educational partner of the First Ukrainian Forum of Marketing Directors that is taking place on March 20 – 21 in Kyiv (hotel "Premier Palace").

The forum of marketing directors is a unique possibility to become familiarized with groundwork of leading Ukrainian and foreign companies, to acquire information concerning new consumer and product trends, domestic and world market tendencies, and to exchange experience with colleagues beforehand.
