"A business school does not only provide with a new knowledge, but it also teaches how to be a leader" - this is an invincible belief of Dr. Alexandr Savchenko, Rector of the International Institute of Business (IIB-Ukraine).

Does the market of business education exist in Ukraine?

Yes, the market of business education exists in our country, but it is considerably smaller than one of our neighbors: for example, in Poland about 1.5 thousand people get MBA diplomas annually, in comparison with 100 people in Ukraine. There are not yet enough programs in Ukraine that meet the best international standards of business education, and the goal of IIB as a leading Ukrainian school of business is to bring these standards to Ukraine, promoting the growth of management effectiveness, and , in broad terms, the competitiveness of Ukrainian economy.

What does IIB offer to the students?

We offer two Master of Business Administration programs: International MBA and Executive MBA. Both programs are accredited by British Association of MBA, leading global organization in the field of business education. It is enough to say that the best business schools in the world, such as IMD, INSEAD, London Business School, IE, form part of the group of schools which programs are accredited by AMBA.

The International MBA program is the unique program in Ukraine where the graduates get two MBA diplomas – one of the International Institute of Business and one of the University of New Brunswick (oldest Canadian University). The program in taught in English.

Executive МВА program is designed for the experienced top managers, including the entrepreneurs, business owners who determine and are responsible for the future of their companies. The Executive MBA program is also an international program teaching the managers not only from Ukraine, but also from Russia, Belarus and other CIS countries.

In addition to two MBA programs, during 15 years IIB successfully runs the Ukrainian program of business administration (UPBA) which is very similar to MBA programs by its content and target audience. This program is accredited in Ukraine, and its graduates get the State diploma on second high education degree in the area of finance or marketing.

We also offer the programs of leading international professional qualifications – in Marketing ((Chartered Institute of Marketing), Financial Management (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), Public Relations (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) and Operation Management (REFA International).

What was the decrease of the demand for business education because of the crisis developments in the world economy?

The demand decreases only in Great Britain. In China and India there is a considerable growth: 20-30% annually. In Ukraine there is a small, but stable growth: 5-10% per year.

During the last annual meeting of British Association of MBA, where IIB is a member, our business school entered the group of three leaders ( together with USA and Chinese schools) that created the venture fund of financial support for the new projects of business school students and graduates.

Who become students of the business schools in Ukraine?

Those who associate their life and career with business activity: the experienced entrepreneurs, top managers, as well as the younger middle managers working in Ukrainian and international companies.

High quality business education programs in Ukraine, like those offered by the International Institute of Business, represent today a good alternative to the education abroad. First of all, the quality of knowledge and skills, acquired by the students here, corresponds to the level of good western business schools that is confirmed both by a solid international accreditation and by a place of IIB in the international ratings. IIB’s graduates study how to apply the knowledge and skills in the reality of Ukrainian business. The students may combine the study with the work, because all IIB’s programs have the format convenient for the working people. Besides, to get business education in Ukraine is much cheaper than abroad.

What are the benefits of business education?

For people working in a business, MBA is a jump start for the career development, giving knowledge and skills helping to fulfill the duties more effectively, as well as a possibility to occupy higher positions in a business, to increase the own value in a market, and, respectively, to increase the revenues. Plus, a business school provides not only with a new knowledge, but it also teaches how to be a leader both in the own company and in the own country.

Besides, there is the possibility to make the interesting and perspective contacts, to exchange an experience, and, in case of IIB, to have an access to the financial resources through the "Start Up Fund" which was created by IIB together with "Class Asset Management" company.

How to choose the right business school?

The main criteria of such choice are the reputation of the school, place in ratings, availability of national and international accreditation, teachers’ qualification and experience, graduates’ achievements – their career development, salary increase, successes of the companies they manage. The availability of a contemporary resource base is also important. Before entering the school, it is very important to analyze the feedback of the graduates. Meeting these simple rules will permit to make an effective investment to himself, to the own business education.
