Internship Program, which is 7 weeks long training on the basis of companies in Canada or Ukraine is an important part of a studying process on management diploma program. The assistance in search of Canadian companies and enterprises which will host the students from Ukraine is fulfilled by Grant MacEwan College. While selecting the companies, students` preferences pertaining to the branch or sphere of company’s activity were taken into consideration.

 

On the 5th of July the graduation of the 9th cohort of students of Grant MacEwan College Canadian Diploma Management Program took its place. 22 listeners were awarded with certificates of degree, among which seven were honors degree in this year.

The honourable guests – Canadian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Ukraine Abina Dann and Grant McEwan Business School Deputy Dean Mike Henry – were present at the solemn ceremony of diploma awarding.

 

Years of studying flew by unnoticeably and the graduates of Ukrainian Program for Business Administration, Professional Diploma and Professional Postgraduate Diploma Programs of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Advanced Diploma of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Advanced Certificate and Diploma of The Chartered Institute Of Public Relations (CIPR) gathered in the conference hall of a new building of International Institute of Business for a solemn ceremony of graduation.

Dr. Alexander Mertens, IIB President opened the ceremony congratulating the graduates with successful graduation of the programs, wishing not to stop on the succeed and to continue moving ahead.

 

The traditional international module of Executive MBA program was held at the beginning of May in one of the biggest financial centers of the world- Zurich. In the frames of this module, organized by IIB jointly with its partner Swiss Business School, students studied such courses as International Financial Management and Venture Capital and Private Equity.

During intense two weeks students had a possibility not only theoretically, but also practically study the mechanisms of financial statements work and large international companies’ practice. Executive MBA students had the meetings with managers of such companies as Philip Morris and Tissot. Students had an opportunity to learn how the companies manage to operate in the crisis period, to look behind the "Zurich airport scenes" and to observe the best operational management and project management practice.

 

International MBA students came forward with the initiative – to start realizing the program of attracting money for Library and Resource Centre development at International Institute of Business. The goal of the project is to approach the IIB library to the level that will correspond the best standards of providing libraries with literature - the standards which now exist at leading business schools in the world.

The new building was designed and built in accordance with the world’s best standards of business schools and will afford a new level of comfort for our partners, clients, students and professors. Located in a green zone of Kyiv (a few minutes from Zhitormirskaya metro station), the new campus will furnish you with a comfortable learning environment worthy of Ukraine’s leading business school.

 

International Institute of Business invites diploma programs’ students (IMBA, EMBA, CIM, CIMA, and CIPR) to attend the master-class "Communication at the edge of chaos". Participants will have a possibility to communicate with Kevin Ruck, founding director of PR Academy (Ashford, UK), who kindly accepted the invitation from IIB to visit Ukraine.



 

The CIMA qualification remains a global quality standard in management accounting.

From February 2009, a new opportunity will appear in Ukraine – to become a student on the CIMA Strategic Level program.



 

On the 10th December, 2008, in the frames of Guest Speakers Series, students on the IIB MBA programs met with Valeriy Pyatnitskiy, Deputy Minister of Ukrainian Economics, who spoke of the possibilities and problems for Ukrainian businessmen and entrepreneurs connected with the accession of Ukraine to the World Trade Organization.

According to Mr. Pyatnitskiy at present Ukrainian business does not really actively use the possibilities which membership in this prestigious international organization affords. Ukrainian importers and exporters co-operate in the acquisition of operating information, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economics has undertaken to create the Centre for Processing Enquiries of Member-States of the WTO. The fundamental task of the centre is to inform interested organizations and companies of the terms of trade, tariff policy, duties, and also to render assistance for the effective co-operation and operational exchange of information and documents with the WTO Secretariat and WTO members. The centre sheds light on the activities of the organs of state power concerning the preparation of official correspondence (notification) and provides answers to enquiries into active norms and the establishing of new rules in the field of international trade.

 

The International Institute of Business invites alumni and students of the IIB MBA to the regular meeting of the MBA Club which takes place on the 13th December 2008 at 51 Degtyarevskaya Street, in the second floor conference hall. It will commence at 14.00. Registration of participants will begin at 13.30.

The theme of the MBA Club will be "Crisis – Problem or Opportunities?". The following topics will be discussed around the table:

• Macroeconomics: scenarios and forecasts for 2009.

• Improving the effectiveness of a business and business processes (Moderator: G. Kanishchenko, Managing Partner of "Strategic Masterminds")

• Human Resource Management in conditions of transformation: paradoxes, challenges, possibilities (Moderator: R. Lemeshchuk, consultancy firm "AB-Capital")

• Managing an enterprise in conditions of crisis: a paradigm of anti-crisis measures (Moderator: V. Savchuk, consultancy firm "Strategic Partner".
