The International Institute of Business invites alumni and students of the IIB MBA to the regular meeting of the MBA Club which takes place on the 13th December 2008 at 51 Degtyarevskaya Street, in the second floor conference hall. It will commence at 14.00. Registration of participants will begin at 13.30.
The theme of the MBA Club will be "Crisis – Problem or Opportunities?". The following topics will be discussed around the table:
• Macroeconomics: scenarios and forecasts for 2009.
• Improving the effectiveness of a business and business processes (Moderator: G. Kanishchenko, Managing Partner of "Strategic Masterminds")
• Building the trust and value of a company in a period of crisis: the real value of reputation (Moderator: M. Starodubska, Managing Partner, "Mikhailov and Partners, Ukraine")
• Human Resource Management in conditions of transformation: paradoxes, challenges, possibilities (Moderator: R. Lemeshchuk, consultancy firm "AB-Capital")
• Managing an enterprise in conditions of crisis: a paradigm of anti-crisis measures (Moderator: V. Savchuk, consultancy firm "Strategic Partner".
In November of this year the Centre for the Development of Property at the International Institute of Business released a completely new product onto the Ukrainian business education market – the first certified course on preparing developers in the sphere of real estate.
Between the 13th and 15th November the first module of the course commenced: "The content of developer activities. The practice of reducing property and regulatory risks in the formalization of rights to real estate development".
Nick Cotton, managing director of the company DTZ in Ukraine, declared the module open, having talked about the fundamental tendencies of Kiev’s real estate market in its various segments and about the possibilities to develop the market in conditions of crisis.

During the period from 5 to 6th of November 2007 the delegation of IIB, which consisted of Prof. Henrik Sternichuk, Head of Supervisory Board, Alexandr Mertens, President of IIB, Olga Karpova, Head of Academic Programs Department, Jurii Zelenin, Chief Accountant visited the Central European University (CEU) and CEU High School of Business in Budapest, Hungary. The purpose of visit was to exchange of experience and to foster cooperation development between educational institutions. The members of IIB delegation had a numbered meetings with the management of University and Business school, where were discussed the actual problems of business and management education of Ukraine and Hungary, the possibilities of faculty. exchange, joint participation in the international projects, development of researches and other issues. This visit became positive due to assistance of Higher Education Support Program of Open Society Institute (HESP/OSI).
On the 15th October lessons commenced for the eighth generation of the International Institute of Business Executive MBAs. This year 32 people, amongst them owners of businesses (45%) and top-level managers (55%) of Ukrainian companies, embarked on the Executive MBA course.

• Experience of work in managerial positions (as an average) – 8 years

The International Institute of Business is running the program "Improving the effectiveness of managing the branch network of a bank" for managers and deputy-managers of the branches of PC "Ukreximbank".
The fundamental aims of the program are to provide management with a holistic understanding of the branch network and the tasks and strategic direction of developing a sales system.
Natalya Pisarenko, director of the IIB Centre for Marketing Innovation and Irina Ulyanova, IIB visiting professor, familiarized students with the instruments and technologies in the sphere of strategic and operational management in the process of executing the professional functions of management of the corporate and retail sectors of a company at different levels of management.
International MBA: new thinking
On the 4th of October the graduation ceremony of the International Institute of Business International MBA program was held. This year 30 students were awarded diplomas from the IIB and the University of New Brunswick, having been acquainted with the cohort of manager-professionals.
Distinguished guests Peter Bates, political advisor to the Canadian Embassy, Dan Colman, Dean of the Faculty of Business at the University of New Brunswick (Canada) – the IIB’s partner in implementation the MBA program, Andrew Gaudes, Director of the MBA program at the University of New Brunswick and IIB faculty members attended the ceremony.
New academic year for the 2nd-course International MBA students’ begun with "International Business Environment" course. This course was held by Paul Marer, Ph.D. at the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, visiting professor at the International Institute of Business.
The course discusses globalization, its drivers and impacts, the types of opportunities and challenges globalization is creating for businesses, who gains and loses during the process. Participants have explored how political, legal and economic systems and business cultures differ and their implications for cross-border business, especially foreign investment.
On September 12th, 2008 Kateryna Velychko, CIPR Programs manager at the International Institute of Business, took part in the roundtable discussion "Interactive resources of the high-quality administrative education", which was held in the frameworks of the 15th National Book exhibition fair "Publishers’ forum" in Lviv.
IIB Executive MBA Program graduation
On the 19th of July the 6th graduation of the Executive MBA Program of International Institute of Business took its place. IIB’s President Alexander Mertens opened the ceremony with congratulation of graduates on successful defence of graduation projects and passing of important life period. Because MBA degree is not only an acquiring of new and systematization of existing knowledge, but in the first place it is a special mode of thought clearing the way to the professional self-development of a manager and contributing to a company’s expansion. Mr Mertens wished that every graduate would never stop at what has been accomplished and would seek conquering of new heights in business.
