From June 18 to 21 David McLeod, the Director International Education and Juriy Konkin, the Head of cooperation projects in Eastern Europe from Grant MacEwan College (Canada) arrived to the International Institute of Business for a working visit to discuss issues of further cooperation of two business schools.

On the 19 of June David McLeod met with students and graduates under IIB Canadian Degree Management Program that had been arranged jointly with Grant MacEwan College. Mister McLeod spoke about opportunities occurring for the program graduates.

 

On June 19 the Chief Executive Officer of the Astelit Ltd telecommunication company (the life:) trademark) Tansu Yegen had visited the International Institute of Business and shared his secrets of success achievement with first year students of the International MBA.

Mister Yegen have managed to raise life:) in one of the three leading mobile operators in Ukraine and to obtain rank of the most successive and fast growing company of the telecommunication market in the world.

 

On May 28th-30th Alexander Mertens, the President of International Institute of Business, took part in the International Dean’s and Director’s Conference in Lissabon, which was organised by Association of MBAs.

During sessions there were considered different aspects of business school effective management, curriculum and tutorship methodology in the conditions of internationalisation. The participants also discussed the strategic issues and future trends of new markets development, got acquainted with researches in the field of the world MBA education tendencies, which were presented by Rachael Edgington, GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) Marketing and Analytical Department.

 

Last week the guest session of first year students of Executive MBA program took its place in Turkey. It is not the first time when guest sessions are conducted on our listeners’ initiative, but for this time the level was raised and the first trip beyond Ukrainian borders was arranged. All the participants were unanimous in their opinion that such trip is not only a unique possibility to consolidate knowledge and communication outside auditoriums, but also a chance simply to have rest after workday life in cosy hotel not far from the most popular Turkish health resort – the city of Kemer.

 

Traditionally, the students of Executive MBA IIB undergo study course in one of the western business schools at the end of the second year of education. In May 2008, the group of second year students of the EMBA program was on the study course in Switzerland.

The study course program provided learning of three courses at student’s option, namely courses of "International Financial Management", "Venture capital" and "Investments" in the Swiss School of Business and visits to several major international companies.

During 2 weeks, the participants of the program were getting acquainted themselves with mechanisms of financial institutes operation in one of the major financial centers of the world, not only in theory but also practically.

 

The International Institute of Business has responded to the global call for business schools and academic associations to advance corporate social responsibility worldwide. The business school has committed to adhere to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), which were unveiled by a group of scholars and leading academic organization at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in July of 2007.

The Principles for Responsible Management Education provide a framework for academic institutions to advance the broader cause of corporate social responsibility and incorporate universal values into curricula and research.

 

The International Institute of Business – the only accredited study centre of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (United Kingdom) in Ukraine – professional organization, which plays the leading role in professionals’ preparation for PR-industry.

This year all works of CIPR Advanced Certificate / Diploma Students at the International Institute of Business achieved high grades from CIPR Exam Board members.

CIPR Chief Examiner mentioned the overall high level of works, which were submitted by Ukrainian CIPR Advanced Certificate Students. Such results are not typical for groups with big cohorts.

 

On April 16-18, 2008 Alexander Mertens, the President of the International Institute of Business, took part in the second module of the first programme for business school deans - International Deans’ Programme (IDP). The programme is organized by the Association of Business Schools (ABS) with the assistance of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

IDP consists of three modules, each of them is held in different countries. The first one was held at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, in the frameworks of the second module participants visited five universities in Boston, and final module will be held in Lisboan in July.

 

During April 9 - 13 the IMBA second year students will have an opportunity to enrich their knowledge in the area of communications. JUDY A. ROY will deliver course "Corporate Communications".

JUDY A. ROY, Senior Teaching Associate, joined the Faculty of Business Administration of University of New Brunswick in 1993 and is a member of the Organization Studies area. She teaches Verbal and Written Communications in the BBA program and Organizational Communications in the MBA program. Other areas of teaching: Business Communications, Marketing Communications, Advertising, Marketing Principles, Marketing Research, Public Relations.

 

On April the 8th, 2008 at the conference room of the International Institute of Business in the frameworks of the PR-Ukraine. Growth in PR Project panel discussion, devoted to the problems of the Ukrainian education in PR, was held. Key points of the discussions were as follows: necessity of the specialized education for PR-specialist, quality of existing educational programs, their advantages and disadvantages.

Round-table meeting was opened by Martin Nunn – Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), foundation-member of the Ukrainian Association of Public Relations (UAPR), member of the President’s Foreign Investments Advisory Board and Chief Executive of the Whites Communication International Public Relations.
